PAINT & STRIP FACILITY - Kings Bay, GA
​Mr.  Elkins worked on this project prior to forming Expert Consultations.
 Project features included:
  • Streamlined painting/sandblasting operations that meet EPA NESHAP restrictions.
  • 35,000 s.f. design-build pre-engineered, single-story, metal building housing areas for sandblasting and painting submarine components, some larger than a tractor trailer.
  • New equipment and controls,  including compressors,  dust collectors,  paint/powdercoat/sandblast booths,  bake/burn-off ovens and monorail cranes

Specific commissioning activities for this project included:
  • Worked with Owner to develop and document new OPR.
  • Reviewed NAVFAC design/bidding documents against OPR.
  • Reviewed vendor-supplied submittal and O&M documents against OPR.
  • Observed progress of installation in the field.
  • Led the project team in the testing of the booth ventilation systems,  compressed air systems,  and HVAC systems.
